Setting Your Holiday Table
As featured on WTOC-TV's Mid-Morning Live, Thanksgiving Day 2005
- Gather your recipes and make a cooking timeline - make yourself a host and not just a slave to the stove!
- Set the table the day/night before. Even if guests arrive early and you're still cooking, everything will look like it's under control no matter what is happening in the kitchen.
- Think of the table as a basic black dress that needs accessories. Use bold colors - don't limit yourself to the more traditional colors of the season. "Bling" is in! Anything sparkly, shimmery, or shiny adds glamour to the table.
- Dress up each place setting with a small floral vase or an embellished napkin.
- Consider using place cards - this can be a saving grace for family members who may not be the best of friends or newcomers who may not know everyone well enough to start conversation.
- Start your own tradition!

7 Deadly Sins (of Getting Hitched)
Article by Susan Reefer for The South magazine, February/March 2008 Featuring
Julie Ford Musselman of Hostess City Celebrations
"…Julie Musselman
is the President and CEO of Hostess City Celebrations. She has been in the event
planning business for fourteen years, and has helped more than 120 couples navigate
their way down the aisle. Musselman says that a wedding planner can be a good choice
for couples who find themselves with limited time or experience: 'People who are
planning a large event and want to invest in the success of that event; people whose
personal commitments limit their time; people who may not live in the same city as
their family; or people who are going through a lot of life transitions as they are
getting married.' She says that Savannah continues to be a popular destination for
weddings. 'It's the ideal in Southern charm and hospitality,' she explains. And even
for couples who call Savannah home, the trend in weddings is to create a unique even
built around the individuality and personality of the couple…"

Top 10 Historic Wedding Sites: Saying "I do" at Savannah's Unique Wedding Venues
Article by Allison Hersh for Savannah Magazine, January/February 2008 Featuring Julie Ford Musselman of Hostess City Celebrations
"…'It was important to me to get married somewhere historic and unique,' Kortny explained. 'Our love of Savannah is very much related to the city's
history. We enjoyed the fact that our wedding captured the essence of Savannah, which we couldn't have done in a ballroom somewhere.'
In fact Kortny is a part of a growing number of brides and grooms planning weddings at Savannah's historic sites. Wedding planner Julie Musselman,
the owner of Hostess City Celebrations, explained that Savannah boasts and incredibly wide selection of historic sites for couples looking to tie the
knot. The city's abundance of vintage venues, she said, appeals to local residents and also has led to an increase in destination weddings, planned
by couples who elect to wed in savannah because of the city's wide selection of high-quality historic wedding…'"

Destination: Matrimony
Excerpt by Robin Gunn for Savannah Magazine, January/February 2006
Featuring Julie Ford Musselman of Hostess City Celebrations
Anyone taking a stroll through Savannah's Historic District will quickly spot tourists or visitors savoring the romance of the city -
sharing a glass of wine at an outdoor café, having their photos taken at the Forsyth Park fountain or clip-clopping
around a square on a horse-drawn carriage tour. Lately, more and more couples in love are making a very special trip
to Savannah - they have decided to hold their dream wedding in our city.
For Claire Costello and LaMont Albertson,
Savannah had an interesting family connection and made logistical sense. "We live in Alaska, but my family is in Ireland,"
said Claire of their 2004 marriage. "We thought the East Coast would be a good midway point, but we didn't want New
England. My husband suggested Savannah; his father was born at Hunter (Army) Airfield and (his father's) second
marriage took place in Forsyth Park in the early 1990s."
